OUR STORY
Elizabeth (Beth) Young was born and raised in Bradenton, along with her brother, Ryan. She began her professional career as a middle school English teacher, and later, a high school English teacher. Although she enjoyed working with her students, she had a sense that she could help more people in need by becoming a nurse. So while working full time, Beth began taking night classes and eventually was accepted in the State College of Florida nursing program. After graduation, she began working at Blake Medical in the Medical/Surgical unit, which was where she became passionate about wounds.
Beth eventually earned her Wound Care Certification and joined the wound care team at Manatee Memorial Hospital where she worked until she and her husband, Alex Petreas, opened Ellenton Urgent Care, and later, Bayshore Urgent Care Services.
Beth has most recently passed a very challenging exam and has joined the small and prestigious group of Certified Wound Specialists (there are only 2502 in the United States). Certified by the American Board of Wound Management, a certified wound specialist must have been approved to sit for the exam but only after gaining years of experience, submitting multiple letters of recommendation, as well as submitting multiple documents and personal statements as to why one would be an exemplary wound care specialist (if given the opportunity).
Bradenton Wound Care is now open and is located in the Bayshore Urgent Care Building. Beth treats patients Monday through Friday, and at times will be available on weekends for dressing changes.
